Vortrag David Bussel
The ‘And’ Between Art and Labour
The talk will outline and problematise the relations between art and labour by looking at work in general and art-making in particular - art about labour and art as labour - focussing on art practices from the 1970s to the present including those of Mierle Laderman Ukeles, KP Brehmer, Tehching Tsieh, Harun Farocki, Theaster Gates, Andrea Fraser and Chto Delat. It will attempt to periodise or historicise these practices in relation to the rise of neoliberal thought, globalisation and financial capitalism in an effort to complicate and politicise certain types of art making by situating them in and against our current mode of production and social order.
